Kids Drum Set Makeover

We are pretty sure everyone of you has already seen a video of people turning a basic house into a fantastic and eye-candy home. Or crazy car makeovers which give common cars a king-of-the-street look and the sound of a formula 1 racing car. DIY (Do-it-yourself) is trendy and upcycling of old stuff or doing makeovers often results in stunning projects. To create something by hand gives most people a good feeling and the sense of achievement is good for our endorphins.

In the last days our drummer team took an endorphin shower after finishing a special DIY drum project. We received a package including a kids drum set with a 16 inch Kickdrum, a 10 inch Snare Drum and an 8 inch Tomtom. Furthermore a set of hardware, cymbals and a pair of drumsticks. And we thought: Challenge accepted!

We wanted to prove ourselves that we are not only drummers who are good behind the drum set, but also skilful artisans who can create a unique drum set out of nearly everything. Okay, okay…that may sound a bit laid on thick. But we decided to give it a try and upcycle this kids drum set into a proper adult drum kit with a good sound.

This was a fun project and we enjoyed it a lot. And we are impressed what is possible, if you use some tricks. We learned a lot which is not only helpful for such a fun project, but also for the tuning of drum sets in general.
